I am excited to announce that Weatherbox has posted a slew of new tour dates spanning across the country in support of Bad Books!
Here's their official Facebook announcement and the current dates on tap:
"America, we are drifting through you in February with Bad Books and The Front Bottoms, we'll have some more dates soon, so dont worry about a thing, please come out to help us shoot emotional indie rock lasers into the stratosphere!"
FEBRUARY
13 - Newport, KY - Thompson House* 14 - Chicago, IL - Subterranean* 15 - Pontiac, MI - The Pike Room* 16 - Columbus, OH - The Basement* 17 - Pittsburgh, PA - Mr. Small’s theatre* 19 - Cambridge, MA - The Sinclair* 20 - New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom* 21 - Philadelphia, PA - World Café Live* 22 - Towson, MD - The Recher Theatre* 23 - Chapel Hill, NC - Local 506* 24 - West Columbia, SC - New Brookland Tavern*
NOTE: Tour dates with a * symbol next to them indicate that Weatherbox is performing at that particular show. There are several other dates for this tour that have other supporting acts featured.
I couldn't be any happier than I am right now! If there are no additional dates added to the list that are closer to my location, then I will DEFINITELY be traveling down to Pittsburgh for the show on the 17th!
Anybody going to that show? What about the other dates? w00t w00t

There is NO WAY that I'm missing that show...but the person that was supposed to go with me can't come anymore so I don't know what to do. It's a four hour drive from where I live to Pittsburgh and that's an awful long way to drive by myself. I also can't stay the night there so I'm going to have to hit the road right after the show ends and that would be brutal alone.
However, there's no way that I'm missing some live 'Box. They may not tour in the north-eastern part of the U.S. for a loooooooong time after this so I might just have to suck it up.

I ended up getting guest-listed at the Chicago date of the tour after it was already sold out because my brother happens to know some guys at the venue from his band playing there so much. I lucked out big time. This will be my second time seeing them and it's a four hour drive each way, but I am stoked! I'm gonna have a real transcendent boxist experience.

Damn dude, you lucked out for sure! That's sweet.
I am also planning on some full blown Weatherbox transcendentalism haha. I found another person to go with me so it's all good now. Can't wait another second for this showwwww!

The show was very rad. I actually got a chance to meet and talk to Brian just about 20 minutes before they went on. I was pretty bummed to hear that they were opening; could have sworn Front Bottoms would have opened/wish they would have. Box only got to play 6 songs but they were very awesome. Brian seemed kinda bummed that they were opening and thats understandable. Loved the set though. Such great stuff. brightwhitelight, what'd you think of the show? What'd you think of Bad Books? I thought they did the damn thing, haha.

I had the time of my fucking LIFE dude!
I was also able to meet Brian and George before/after the show and I never expected that to happen in a million years. They are both such amazingly cool guys and they are so incredibly humble. Brian signed my ticket stub haha! I drove almost ten hours round trip for this show and even though Weatherbox opened with only a short set, it was MORE than worth the time spent on the road. I made some incredible memories that will be with me forever.
This was also my first time seeing Bad Books (although I've seen Manchester Orchestra many times) and I was really blown away by how great they sounded. They are true professionals who take their music seriously while at the same time being freaking HILARIOUS while they're on stage. Andy and Kevin had me dying so many different times. "Let Her Cry" was the BESTTTT!!!
Weatherbox's Set List: (Kind of in order)
Two Satchels of Light My Head Pagan Baby Contactus, the Little Green Man The Devil and Whom (with Andy Hull - SOOOO GOOD!) The Dreams
I was very disappointed that The Front Bottoms were not the opening act but it seemed like a lot of the audience was there just for them. I wasn't a huge fan of them but I did like how catchy and quirky their songs were. Definitely can see the Neutral Milk Hotel/Built To Spill influence in their music.
In closing, if you have a chance to catch one of these shows - DO IT! Brian and the guys are at the merch table basically all night and their live set is FLAWLESS!
