I'm reading The Shining. It's not scary yet but it's pretty sad.

Poems Retrieved - Frank O'Hara
So fucking brilliant.
EDIT: Does anyone have any poetry recommendations? I really don't know much about it, but so far I like O'Hara, Bukowski, Kerouac, Brautigan, and Ferlinghetti.

Get Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Read Stanzas 6 and 24 of Song of Myself.

I have the collected works of Whitman so I'll check that out!! Btw I have a new favourite Frank O'Hara poem and I want to share it cos it's so freaking good. It's called "Poem": Suppose that grey tree, so nude and desperate, began to waltz slowly in time to something we are deaf to in the thickening snow.
Would it be merely trying to get warm and true, as it seems one does while dancing, or would this be an invitation from the inanimate world our bones, trying not to ache with foreboding, seemed to warn us of in early childhood?
Then, unenlightened by desire and satisfied by very real dreams, we were able briefly, as from a window, to look bravely upon the baroque will of objects, not knowing, in our clever smile, who really felt the cold.

Dude the Road was soooo good. Check out Blood Meridian, it's McCarthy's masterpiece.
