about to read The Transformation by Franz Kafka You mean The Metamorphosis? Or does it have multiple titles? Either way, it's a strange story. Also, everyone here should read Looking for Alaska.

Yeah, I think she means Metamorphosis. I've got the complete Kafka and there's no Transformation. Kafka is amazing though.

I totally pwned our metamorphosis observations when I motioned that the picture of the woman in a fur coat was comforting to him because she was basically an animal on the outside, but with human fillinz. My teacher said no one had ever mentioned that previously.

Weeeird. I've never heard of it referred to as "Transformation". Btw I think they're making it into a movie... saw something on IMDB but there's no info yet.

I'm betting that's the literal translation and Metamorphosis is our word that more accurately describes it.

That was the first Fante I read. Brotherhood of the Grape is my favourite though <3 Thinking about starting on Sartre... does anyone have any recommendations?
Oh, also I'm halfway through The Plague by Camus.

I read it my sophomore year and loved it. I'm not a huge Palahniuk fan anymore though.
